TAP NATIONALS WRAP UP AND RESULTS
Teams from all over the United States and Canada converged on Nashville from November 4-8, 2015 to fight for the right to be named TAP's national champion in 8 and 9 ball teams, scotch doubles and singles. The host location was the Gaylord Opryland and Resort and let me tell you, this place was over the top on luxury and service. The Gaylord is the largest non gaming resort in the United States. Even with well planned maps and directions you could see TAP members walking around and getting lost the first day or two of their visit. The Gaylord is massive to say the least. It is located next to the Grand Old Opry and minutes away from downtown Nashville. And let me tell you the players that did go downtown to the hot spots and honky tonks to party and listen to live music were not disappointed. TAP members had a blast!
1992 U.S Open 9 Ball champion, Tommy Kennedy, was on hand all weekend doing some trick shots and his famous ball juggling routine. He juggled 11 balls at one time on the 7 foot tables. Very difficult even for Tommy. He also was available for challenge matches with the members. This was a big hit with the players.
Legendary cue maker, Bill Schick, also made a appearance and shared his knowledge and stories to many of the players attending.
Sticking with tradition, Wednesday night TAP held their annual welcome party for our national team. This isn't the usual beer and chip mixer either. TAP members were greeted with 6 serving stations serving a variety of food and beer on tap.
Once the festivities were over, Thursday morning it was time to get down to business with the three round robin rounds for national team event. Once these three rounds were completed the top teams moved on to the elite national championship board. The remaining teams went on to lower championship and best of the rest boards. All teams were guaranteed four rounds of play. These same format was done with the TAP Dream team event which is the same format as the Rally every Spring at the Super Billiard Expo. The singles were also a round robin format. Once the last balls were pocketed the teams and players that rose to the top are as follows:
